The Web of Loneliness (WOL) was started in 2001 as part of a research project to collect data on Internet users who experienced loneliness. In order to attract users to the website, the website provided information about the issue of loneliness. Due to the great demand of Internet users for information about loneliness the WOL continued even after the data collection period was over. The WOL has grown to include sections that provide information on loneliness, a collection of artwork on loneliness, academic publications, an online support group, and a list of web resources. Since 2001, there have been over 400,000 visitors to the WOL, some of whom have contributed to the website's continued growth and success. You do not have to be alone in your loneliness, join the WOL and become part of a community. To find out more about the WOL owner, click here.
