All of these works are dedicated to UAE and my life in Dubai. My works takes on a hip contemporary twist on a traditional embroidery and my subjects vary from a pattern I've seen, saying I've heard or a person I've met. These detailed canvases of beads and sequins commemorate national icons and other recognizable imagery found in the UAE along with a selection of chosen jalabiya fabrics embelished with the names of seven Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai etc.).
These artworks and it's inspiration reflect a place that is not my home, but madafati (which is also the name of the selection of works) - a place I can call my home when being away from home.
