This is a essay I wrote recently outlining how attachment theory and systems theory can be used to explain loneliness that occurs in adolescents and adults. I've posted it up for individuals who may want some further literature to read about loneliness and about each of these theories can be or have been used to help explain loneliness. The final section gives some details about various intervention strategies that can be used to help lonely individuals overcome their loneliness.
