In another section
of
this website is a more "academic" description of loneliness, including
what some believe it to be, and a description of different types of and different ways of dealing with loneliness. It is a very good
"icebreaker" into the study of loneliness and what some in the
academic field have written about loneliness. But loneliness as you and I
both know is something more than just plain, sober academic words, it is
something that can be very real and very painful. In the highest of experience of the
pain of loneliness, many people get that creative surge and attempt to capture
what they feel, whether it be through song, poem, story, art, etc. In this
section, I have attempted to provide a collection of such artistic work for all
to read and identify with and understand what loneliness is, and what loneliness
does. For now it is quite a modest collection of works. There is a
special section that deals with definitions of
loneliness. The initial definitions have been quoted from some
academic writers who are also grapping with this problem of identifying exactly
what loneliness is. There are other sections
that hold
some original works of people who have written about loneliness.
I invite you the reader to contribute to these pages.
If you think you can capture what loneliness is in a definition, or poem, or
story, or in a painting, check out the section called Submitting
Material. We
can put up your contribution for others
to look at and admire. Sharing your experiences with other people will
help all of us because we will know that we are not the only lonely people, that
many other people experience loneliness, and your contributions will show the
many different (and similar) ways that loneliness is experienced and the many
different ways we suffer and survive. Please don't turn your back on this wonderful
opportunity to express yourself.
And if you find this collection interesting, please don't
hesitate to recommend it to a friend as well!!!
